Netflix

Months ago, my husband and I cancelled Netflix. We decided to get all the movie channels on our cable instead… so now we have HBO, Showtime, Encore, Starz, etc… and it’s great. We watch everything on demand because we’re too lazy to watch it on the real times. We also watch all the series shows on demand because you can watch them whenver you want. Sadly, HBO immediately got rid of The Wire on their ondemand menu so we decided to re-up our Netflix so that we can catch up with the last season (which we purposefully didn’t watch so that we could watch it all at once on OnDemand).

So here is my question… Should I start getting other series to add to my TV collection? I was thinking of getting Bones, Heroes, Dexter, Entourage, Dead Like Me, Footballers Wives, Brothers and Sisters, and Big Love. My BIG real question is… WHAT OTHER SHOWS SHOULD I ADD TO MY LIST? What do you guys like that isn’t on my list?

Meet Llanview’s Newest Resident

So the title is sort of misleading. “One Life to Live” IS getting a new cast member, but she won’t be hanging in Llanview. At least not initially. Jacqueline Hendy is joining the cast as Vanessa Montez, a sexy and badass woman of Colombian heritage. BTW, how come no one is ever plain-looking and badass? Whatever, we should start a trend.

Anyway, Vanessa is the wife of Ray Montez (who will be played by A Martinez). Jared’s going to be heading down to Colombia to get Ray’s help for Clint’s scheme against Dorian, but he’s actually not the Llanview resident that Vanessa first comes into contact with. Another familiar face will be heading to Colombia to kick off a big story.

Jacqueline appeared on Broadway in “Nine” and “Follies.” She had a recurring role on the NBC show “The Black Donnellys” and can be seen in some episodes of the upcoming J.J. Abrams series, “Fringe.” Also, she’s a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) certified open-water diver. Which is random, we know, but we felt like passing it on.

What character do you think Vanessa will encounter in Colombia?

So this is what I wish would happen… there are 2 scenarios:

1. Jared goes to Columbia and somehow gets involved in some shady stuff… and does some drug dealing or something crazy and illegal and gets arrested and trapped in a Columbian prison forever or gets killed by the Columbian mob or something.
2. Jared and Vanessa get somehow entangled beneath the sheets and he has totally cheated on Natalie… which in the end will break them up… but not until Natalie is preggers with his child (actually… is that really necessary?) and then Jared and Vanessa can stay together in Columbia and we’ll be rid of Jared! Hooray!

Either way… we’d be rid of Jared and OLTL would be a better place. Please, Mr. Carlivati, do us a favor and get rid of Jared Banks. He is lame and his hair is awful. Thank you.

• Jessica and Starr’s babies will be switched
• Todd will tell Starr that her baby is dead
• Todd asks Marty to raise Starr’s baby with him
• Brody kidnaps Shane
• There may be an African American storyline (woohoo!) since they put the new girl on contract (Vincent’s new gf)

Secret Life update

I watched the most recent epi of the Secret Life yesterday. I’m getting a bit bored with the show. Amy is acting like an idiot. She is suddenly horribly embarassed to be seen around school or town. Her mother is falling apart because her husband is a douchebag. Ashley, the younger sister, is going through stuff but everyone is ignoring her because she’s not pregnant. The father is living in the furniture store because they are broke. Adrian’s father doesn’t want to know her and it broke her heart. Tom hired a hooker/call girl/escort to “talk” to him and it cost him $200. Anyway, I’m tired of this show.

RIP Oscar Sanchez

I just wanted to say a little something about the last episode of The Closer. I really like that show. I’ve been watching for the past 2 seasons and I can’t get enough. I watched the most recent episode last night (on my handy dandy DVR) and was really surprised. We (the viewers) finally got to see something more from one of the detectives’ personal lives! I LOVED it. Of course, I was incredibly sad when Det. Sanchez couldn’t face what happened and I nearly cried… but I think that the Closer is going in the right direction by showing us another side of the detectives. We always get to see Brenda’s personal life and now we finally get to learn more about the detectives. Who knew that Tao and Sanchez were such good friends? I didn’t! Who knew that Tao had a pretty wife? I didn’t!

Anyway, this is just a short post to say “Yay The Closer! You rock!” I can’t wait til next week (although I have no idea what the episode is about since my DVR cuts off the scenes from the next.)
